Well my face still looks like this :D after last night. I am so proud of my boy <3.
We went out and he went xc for the second time ever and he was fab! He had a few green moments that are to be expected but he was generally awesome :D. He also gave another horse a lead over some fences, never thought that would happen.

So we started off with a small roll top that he gave another horse a lead over and we also had a bit of a practice coming out the start box as he has never seen one before, didnt have to worry he didnt seem to notice it .

Then did a bigger roll top with almost a mini roll top on top of it, he didnt even look at it.

On to a pallicade, the biggest he has jumped away from home and his first pallicade, popped that without a question just a bit of a wiggle on the way in.

Then a black pipe he didnt even look at :D.

We then went on to some doubles and he had a few green moments. The second fence took him by suprise so he had a stop at the first then jumped from a standstill :o wasnt expecting that. We then built him up to it and he jumped it fine so all was good and he then went and jumped another double. He backed off slightly and dropped to trot but still jumped so we were happy with that.

Then we did the sharks teeth and a skinny mushroom. He stopped at the mushroom because I didnt set him up enough but jumped it on the second approach.

So over all I was very happy with him, we didnt get to do the ditch or the water as they are ready for a competition but it was a real confidence boost for him. On to the pictures and videos.....

CC welcome but it is only his second time jumping solid fences. The general feedback was that he likes to show jump them still and I need to pick the fences we show jump and the ones we try for a bit more of a xc style jump.

You guys look fab together and some of those fences are a fair size. :)
He really is a credit to you and all the hard work you've done with him is really paying off.

Bless him at the end doing that fence from a standstill!

No CC from me but when he gets braver in his xc and a bit more experienced I would push for a bit more of a gallop but for the time being I think the SJ canter is suiting him. Does he gallop with you at home and stuff when you ask for it? Might be worth taking him out for some proper gallops and get him to open out, that's the sort of time you need a spaz like my Andy to give him a bit of a lead if he's reluctant to open out. :p

Keep up the hard work. :)

Pedantic - thanks, I did laugh too, I was just about to turn him away and have another go.
Mymissmegan - thanks

Koko - Thanks I think the pallicade is one of the BE fences there. He does gallop but we havnt for quite a long time as our ground is hard still, but where we were has nice fen soil so its still good to jump on. We do definatly need a whizzy friend to help him open out as he gets it when there is someone else to follow. I might see if someone wants to do pairs with us.

What a lovely honest chap for jumping that last one - Good work!!!
And for not rushing off when his boot was 'chasing' him! - Tape over the top next time!

Well done both - looks great fun!!!

Thank you. I have just gone and stole some electric tape from dad so I will put that in with his xc boots for next time

Did you see if they're flagging the course already for the area events? Who did you go schooling with, and do they hold many schooling things there?

Yes thats why we were not allowed to jump any thing flagged. It was with pony club, erm no just pony club as far as I know.

What a lovely little chap. What is his breeding?
Thank you, he is a connie
