sorry I realise this thread has probably been done ad nauseum before but I can't seem to find any articles or anything about it but I KNOW I've seen stuff like this somewhere!

Was thinking of corners with two poles on three blocks if you know what i mean but they didn't balance probably on the blocks so instructor set it up a bit like a jacobs ladder but obviously as there were wings horses didn't see much difference in that and a normal showjump, with blocks at least you had to make sure they didnt run out ...is this making any sense?! lol

anyway if you have any good ideas of xc schooling with showjumps please let me know as we're having another lesson next thursday and want some ideas for then! or even if you know what magazine i've seen this in!

thanks!!

We have short wings at our yard so you can have the wings the same height as the pole. Oil barrells are fab too. I had a technical XC indoor lesson a few years ago and it was ace fun!

We did xc practice at home last night. We made a corner with 2 poles on small 60 ltr barrels and made it look solid by filling it in with pallets, we rested pallets against a pole to make a palisade, a stile with broken poles, a water ready with some blue painted wooden blocks and some skinny barrels on their own. You could also use shavings bales to create something a little different. I work in the motor trade and have access to an abundance of different sized and colored barrels - any decent motor factor will be happy to give you some for free, we pay to have them taken away!
Took some pics of our home made xc last night, can post some up if you want to see what we were jumping?

oh yes please! as we're on a riding school and on riding school/loan ponies we have to make sure everything is super super safe so we don't accidently damage them! but ditch with tarpaulin sounds good and filling in a corner as well, I'll ask about barrels as we don't have any and I'd have to check before I turn up with them in my car! lol Shavings bale is a good idea though!
