XC times

I've just been flicking through the results for the BE events so far and hardly anyone at the upper levels (Intermediate and up) has got round within the time allowed. Is this just because they aren't pushing their horses so early in the season or are the times just not doable?

At that level times can be very hard to achieve particularly if the going is wet. 550m a minute is quite fast when you have to have the control for technical combinations. It is easier at 3 day level where the courses are longer and there are more galloping stretches.

Isleham JON, none of them was inside the time. It was quite influential in terms of the results - the girl with the best dressage (19.1) got 10 time faults as well as an SJ pole and came third. I'm interested in your comment about 3 day events SJ - hadn't thought about it before tbh, thanks
