Hi everyone looking for some opinions on boots for my boy, I am at the stage now where I am starting xcountry schooling and doing more show jumping. I would like to use some boots that offer a bit more protection than just brushing boots, but don't think I need the full monty competition boot yet ?

What do you folks suggest/have used etc...

Thanks

Kev

I got the NEW x country boots a few years ago - great boots and liked them as they were so light weight but protective at the same time. BUT be warned if you wash them - DONT put them in the tumble drier!! Mine went in such a deformed shape and no matter what i have done cant get them normal again! GRRRR!

I have Prolites and Premier Equine Aircooled Boots. I use the Prolites for competition wear and the PE are used day to day.

They are extremely good and offer the best protection you can buy (a couple HHO members did a practical) if I remember correctly when damaged it split cleanly in half. Very good and keep the legs cooler then any other boot I have tried. :)

Little Cob has Woof Wear - he has front ones on all legs. Can't remember the reasoning now, but I asked the same question as you but in Comp Riders; the general response was the WW ones.

Dizz (DWB) has TriZone Cross Country boots all round. She can be a dingbat with her legs so I thought the more protection the better! :D  We haven't used them yet, that's next weekend's fun and games lol. Only downside is that she has stepped sideways twice now and ripped off the locking strap on a front boot. So, we're onto pair number three and not reall done any anything yet :(. They do sell loads, so I guess I was just unlucky.

the NEW aircooled are great, wash beautifully, i use mine every day and they're as new (and years old) - never tried tumble drying them though...
the Premier Equine ones are good too, and good value.
i'd avoid anything neoprene lined - neoprene was designed as an insulating material (for divers), and keeping tendons cool is the ideal now, according to modern thinking.
