today I received a new set of Oster golden A5 clippers, and I have to say I love them :) I have had some second hand Wahl clippers I have been using on Flodden up to today, but these beat them completely. Poor Flodden got a partial clip this evening, cos I wanted to try my new toy and WOW, cut through his coat like butter, amazing amazing amazing. i may just become a decent bedlington owner, with a bedlington that looks fantastic. And I may be able to trim him in less than my current record of 3 days :)

Sorry happy rant, just so impressed

pictures pictures pictures :) !!!!!!

eta - Do you trim your bedlington with the funny 'blob' on the forehead? If so, what is the meaning of this? I love bedlingtons but have always wondered the point of that :)

last time he was clipped by a professional, well I did the trim but under strict millimetre by millimetre instruction buy my friend.

the reasoning behind the clip is because they are real hunting terriers, so need faces/ heads left in to protect them as they charge through bushes and gorse, their ears and sides of face are clipped out cos of brambles, tassels left on to protect end of ears. i have no idea why the tail is clipped tight, possibly cos their fur is so soft every branch and twig gets caught up in it, so back is clipped out too. but legs are left in to protect.
actually I reckon clip is there purely to cause me grief!

It's also, IMO, one of the HARDEST trims to perfect on one of the most difficult coat textures to get a good finish. :) Hang in there, I'm sure you'll make a fab job of it!

PucciNponi, i will get there.......... he may look a mess for a while but i need to practice. Poor chap just does not grow his coat quick enough for me to have loads of practice. Strange coat really, he has like a blanket of crisp coat on his back and sides, but his legs and head are soft as cashmere and really prone to knots. His back is getting darker. and his head and legs are getting lighter.
