So has anyone been on or going on their yards xmas do's?
What are you doing?

We have just had our yard xmas meal it was very nice too, in a gorgeous country pub.... better known from Matt Cardle, its his local pub we went to its soooo nice.
Food was really good too, everyone had a great time chatting and have fun...
and yes things were thrown down the very long table lol.... crackers hats to anything that we could get hold of....
Was much fun I must say, and I also have to say I love my yard.... :D :D

We had a get together at our yard last weekend - after evening feed. Everyone paid £5 and the people who had organised it went and got loads of food and mulled wine and the farmer supplied meat for the barbeque and we had it in the barn with the horses. It was bitterly cold but really nice.

I will go along if there is one.
Last year I had not long moved back to my old yard and we went on a ride to the pub, YO bought us a drink and then we rode back for a BBQ, it was lovely.
I wont be riding my own this year but may well walk along with my friend if the same happens. Poor YO is rather debilitated still after a skiing accident so she may not be up to riding but may well host a BBQ.

We had a party last week! The lovely YO hired a social club, we all paid £4.50 each, had an american supper and disco, with a cheap bar (for those who drink!). Just nice for everyone to come and have a chat and socialise and just relax.

We normally gather at a local pub but last year we booked out a function room with bowls for everyone, it was a great night. This year we're just having an american type supper at the yard on Christmas Eve Eve! lol

We had ours last weekend, our YO has two yards so we had a joint party. She hired out a function room in the local pub, had a buffet, live band, champagne etc
.. and it was a fantastic night. We're having mulled wine, nibbles and swapping secret santa gifts on christmas eve too. We have quite a close knit family run yard and a lovely owner so christmas is great for us :)

I organise it every year and have for the last 10 years:rolleyes:

This year we are going for sunday lunch at one of ther local farms that has a restaurant and farm shop - they specialise in rare breeds:D

I give everyone a choice of days and 2 places to go - it is strictly on a the most votes wins basis so there can be no arguements - there are nearly 20 of us and then there are various OH's, kids etc that come along so it would get to complicated otherwise:eek: Every year without fail there are those who drop out/change their minds but equally they can't say they weren't invited:eek:

TBH I am not sure why some people come as they make no effort to join in or enjoy themsleves:eek:

Had ours a couple of weeks ago, involved liveries, YO, landowner, gamekeepers, local pub and a lock in !!!! Suffice it to say I, couple of others and YO were "helped" into taxis by younger liveries (who knew how to hold their drinks ). Que much laughter and red faces (mine !!!) when I finally managed to make it up the yard .....

We've got ours this evening :) liveries, OHs and previous liveries all going out for a 3-course meal at a really lovely local restaurant. The couple that own the yard buy the drinks which is so nice of them :) they also do tea/coffee and mince pies at the house on Christmas Day. I love my yard so much :)
