I am quite small and delicate (though I don't think weak!) and about three weeks ago twinged my wrist three times in the space of a couple hours - twice doing a girth up in an awkward way and once loosening the same girth. Afterwards, my (writing) wrist was on-off achey for just over two weeks, but it was never painful for long enough to get it checked out, I just kept forgetting about it when I rested it and the pain went. However it kept coming back as I was writing, riding, typing etc. It came back with a vengeance on Monday and was told at the walk-in centre to keep it in a splint (but not at night) and move my hands and fingers as little as possible. I've also taken lots of Ibuprofen. Although the swelling/hardness of the tendon on the top of my wrist has gone down the splint has left my in considerable pain and I now have it rested and elevated in a sling and am seeing my GP today. No riding for me this week, and I have lots of college work piling up.
Has this happened to anyone else, or am I just a freak of nature? Any treatment/prevention tips? Want to be back in the saddle asap!
