Doesn't the riding school have set hours normally? When I liveried on a riding school I could guarantee use of the school to ride after their last lesson and on the ponies day off. The school being busy is part and parcel of livery at a riding school though, and was my main concern when I looked at the yard as I'd previously shared at a yard that was also a riding school and knew it was an issue there.

I'm not sure that you can expect "help" from the staff beyond services that you are paying for. If you are asking for extra help you need to work out when they are quiet, and probably pay for extras.

I don't understand why the yard would be able to stop you from riding your horse, surely even if the schools are booked you can hack?

Not following instructions or mucking out properly are things that you should raise and if they aren't resolved you may need to consider either going DIY or moving yard. If the yard manager is slapdash things are unlikely to improve unless they leave, some yards have a staff turnover that means it can be worth hanging on others are run by an owner and if you have different standards then it is best to move on. It is worth speaking to the owner if they aren't hands on doing the jobs themselves, sometimes they can sort out staff issues.

I dont know what the original content of this thread was but I can hazard a guess.

OP, you've posted quite a lot about how unhappy you are as a horse owner; be it about your horse or I presume now your yard and the impact/restrictions of your job.

It is incredibly wearing and tiring to be feeling as unhappy as you seem to be and when nothing is being resolved it's easy for it all to pile up.

Personally I think you need to take some time and really work out what you want from your life, career and horse ownership. Simple but not easy...

Until you change something nothing is going to change. You're going to be trapped in this same cycle until you've been driven totally mad with it all.

Obviously I dont know what has sparked this post but from previous posts its seems like this isnt a stand alone issue.

I'm not saying quit your job and/or part with your horse but I am saying that i do think you need to change either the actual situation or you mindset/attitude towards how things are. I dont think anyone on here can say anything new that hasnt already been said on your previous posts of this ilk.

Good luck however you decide to proceed
