Hello,

I am currently saving up to get my own horse later this year, and have been looking around for yards in the area. I live in North Lincs near Brigg and work in Hull, so any yard not too far off is of interest. As I love flatwork and want to be able to work my horse in winter too, I am looking for a place with an indoor or at least roofed arena, which should be usable by liveries from 6pm onwards during the week. Two places I know and which otherwise look good fail on this account due to lessons being given at that time, blocking the whole arena. I do not wish to pay for a facility I can effectively not use.

Does anyone know a good place?

Thanks in advance!

I'm afraid I can't recommend, but I can warn you to stay away from a yard named after a certain old Roman hill top town, that has a grammar school and is on the way to Grimsby.

My wife had her horse liveried there and the old boy wasn't treated too well. Most of the 'staff' are apprentices or young, inexperienced girls working for free lessons.

From my experience, and I lived up there from birth until about two years ago, decent yards are quite lacking in that part of the country. Lincolnshire, considerings it is very rural, does not seem particularly horsey, certainly in comparison to where I live and work now in the West Country.

Anyway, good luck finding a nice yard.

Thanks for the info, Bigrob34!

And yes I do agree, finding a really good yard seems to be a nightmare :(
