Yard Owners- which insurance company?

What Insurance company(ies) do you/have you used? Who have you found the best? Any advice much appreciated.

This is for a 30 horse livery yard BTW

SEIB - Very good and very reasonable.

Although I havent had a yard claim I have had claims go through them with no problems.

NFU - never had any problems.

previously we were with a broker but we were robbed as they took the money - but didnt insure the full amount of horses we had on the yard!!!!

I use KBIS they are very professional, if you are handling the liveries' horses then you must have in addition to public liability, CCC plan (Care, Custody & Control) which covers you to bring in, turn out etc. Should you turn out a livery horse that for some reason manages to get away from you (heaven forbid) and causes an accident, you are covered but if this happened and you only had public liability then you are not covered!! its very technical and cost even more money but at least I can sleep at night knowing I am covered for as much as possible! My policy covers me for 10 livery horses that are valued at no more than £10,000 per horse, this premium cost me £612 per annum. Hope this is of some help to you and any other YO out there.

Another one here for NFU - and we have the CCC plan. They cover the farm, plus the livery yard plus all the farm machinery as well as all my hay, bedding and feed.

I use Shearwater and have always found them very good. Never needed to claim though (touches lots of wood....)
