Hi,

I have just taken a new job and will be moving sometime in the next few weeks.
I am really worried about finding somewhere for my horse to live.
I would prefer a quiet yard (I have usually managed to avoid big livery yards in favour of private yards!) with assisted DIY if possible as there occasionally be a couple of nights a week where I won't be able to leave work to do him myself. Part livery could be an option too.
Safe all year turn out, a big enough stable (he is 16.3hh), safe hacking and someone on site at all times are all vital criteria. A school would be a bonus but not completely essential.

My horse is a sensible, calm gelding.

So..... does anyone know of anywhere like this within 15 minutes travelling time of the M20 Junction 4 near Maidstone in Kent?

I'd be really grateful for any ideas or contacts please.
Thank you :)

There are plenty of yards round here. I'm currently at one in Borden and that's just down the a249 from Maidstone and we have space at the moment. There are plenty of others but I don't have names or numbers for them. Try Pegasus free ads :)

Thanks for the link Montyforever, I think it is a bit too far but I'll certainly keep it in mind, it looks good.

Binkybex, thanks. I'll look out for a Pegasus.
I don't want him to be too far away. East or West Malling, Aylesford etc would be ideal looking at the map. It's difficult when you don't know the area that well.

There is a livery yard at Ryarsh, they have an arena and decent hacking. There is Leybourne Grange, who have an indoor and an outdoor arena, and again, decent hacking. Don't know about Ryarsh, but the Grange may well have vacancies. The are two or three places in Wrotham, which is only the next junction along. There are also several places advertised at the moment at Lillico (the feed store in Aylesford) as well as adverts for yards on the board at Speedgate.

This is really helpful thank you, I have been calling Leybourne Grange but no answer yet. I'll keep trying. Cheers.

Register up to tack room frolics thats south east based
Also ring up brambledown farm
Shop I'n Sittingbourne they have yards advertised I'n there , i don't now if that's abit far out tho

i lived off that junction, although I am sure there are, no yards meeting your criteria immediately spring to mind. theres lots in the area but most i know of are either bigger or small but not 24hr supervised.

I stabled at wrotham for a while and loved the hacking in that area. i know several yards there but the smaller/private ones arent 24hr supervised.
Stockbury area there is lots of small yards.
both those areas are IMO worth a few more minutes drive as the hacking is very good.

HollyB66 yes part of the TROT scheme. The Hucking 1 can park in the hook and hatchet pub (phone first to let them know, they told me off once for not letting them know I was coming :() Borden toll is the other 1 I think you can park in the village hall car park then it's a 10 min ride away.

Thanks everyone for your help, I had a look at the board in Speedgate and I went to visit a private yard this afternoon near Harvel. It seems to be just what I am looking for. Lovely big stable, great grazing and right next to a bridleway network. It's very quiet and secure and is very reasonably priced. Hooray! :D
