Was a bit surprised today to find that all prezzies yard staff receive have to be handed in for distribution by yard owner.
It does not bother me too much as I give the same to all the full time staff and then the part time staff but not as much obviously.
I think this is fair as often the unseemly helper may be left out but what are your thoughts.

Mum's care home was distributing gifts, I sent some every week, all through lockdown. Only, I found they weren't distributing them as I would wish, so when I finally got to visit, I took some in myself and gave them directly.

I preferred to decide what gifts to give.

Our owners bring tubs of sweets and biscuits that go on "The Shelf".

Every new member of staff gets told about the Shelf - the idea being that any food put on the shelf is fair game to anyone. You dont want them to eat your food you don't leave it on The Shelf. Drinks are off limits though.

Cash all goes into a pot and gets divvied up equally every so often between everyone.

Personalised things are given the person they were designed for.

I’m not sure, yes if a favourite member of staff and you want them to get something special I see it. However there are so many staff behind the scenes who do the dirty work but don’t get the glory that I can see it’s a good thing employers do this
