Hi everyone
I’m thinking of applying to a job in central London, but since I’m from the North West I have no clue where the good yards are around or in London!
I want to make sure there would be somewhere suitable for my girl before I applied for the job.
What I prefer -
A good arena
Show jumps/fillers etc
Either competitions or clinics etc at the yard or nearby (no transport, but the pony likes some fun!)
Turnout every day (I don’t need 24/7, but some turn out per day is needed)
Assisted DIY or part (full considered if not too expensive!)
Up to around an hour (ish) commute from central London
And in an area where rent would be reasonable enough for me to live too!

Any suggestions?

Do you def mean central London? Only asking as for example financial centre a bit more east, say towards Canary Wharf which would mean better recco's from say Essex or Kent, it would really help to narrow down locations - how far from WC2N (centre) are you planning on living? (North, South, East or West?)

As said depends where you are going to be living and working.

There are a few yards technically within London but tend to have limited hacking and turnout and/or very expensive. You would get more for your money moving your horse to the nearer bits of the home counties.

One option would be to live between yard and work, so maybe zone 3 or 4.

South or West London and you are looking out towards Surrey/Berks; South East London - Kent: North/East Essex or East Herts, North West - Bucks or West Herts.

These are not cheap areas for keeping horses and DIY is getting harder to get even assisted.

To give one example. You could live in North West London coming in to work on the Northern or Jubilee Line. Keeping your horse in Herts which is reasonably accessible via the M1. Yards round there that fit your requirements would start at about £500 pcm for 5 day part livery.

Definitely Central (or a little west) as far as I’m aware! Sorry, I’m bad with places down south! I wouldn’t mind living anywhere that’s within a reasonable distance, also wouldn’t mind if commute-wise I was living a bit closer if a livery yard was a bit further away! Preferably looking at about an hour max (or less if the yards a bit further away)

I figured that would be the case! I wouldn’t mind living between work and the yard. I’m just not sure what areas are the best for keeping the pony, commuting etc! Seems like a bit of a minefield for a northerner!
Thanks for the advice! Still considering whether to apply for the job or not, but I’ll definitely have a look around that area if I do! Livery where I am is normally 120-150 per week anyway, so hopefully I could find somewhere similar!
