I posted a week ago about my youngsters tendon problem and him not using his leg. Had a breakthough yesterday, what I thought was pain stopping him using his leg is wrong, he's just turned into a bit of a lazy sod who's got used to not using it!!!

I'm not saying it isnt a bit stiff but after a mild disagreement yesterday (him rearing and screaming at the pony in the next field!) we had a bit of a battle of wills to make him behave that ended in us cantering around on the right leg for about 10 laps at full pelt!!!!

I was so impressed that he could use his leg and didnt pull up lame i forgot about him trying to kill the pony!!!

I lunged him today to see how he was and he cantered on both reigns absolutely fine on the right legs!! think we've finally had the breakthtough we needed and cant wait to see what the vet says, fingers crossed!!!!!!!

I've been so upset about this for ages its such a relief to finally have a bit of good news!!!

YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good news but be careful its not just excitment and adrealine (sp) that's making him look sound. A tendon injury of any sort would not respond well to 10 laps at the gallop on the lunge. Id have the vet take a look at him asap.

He's totally sound now, the cantering round must have teared the skin away, he started to do it but then decided it hurt too much so wouldnt do it again!! Just ridden him again and he is moving so much easier, his stride has lengthened. It wasnt your usual tendon injury, the tendon itself was untouched, he just needed to breeak the skin away from the outer part of the tendon. Spoke to the vet yesterday and he says it sounds like it has done the trick, fingers crossed for his check up!!
