Some f you may know I bought a Haflinger Gelding a couple of weeks ago. He was really cheap as he was "uncatchable" and a I quote " A complete b****rd to get on"
Well he arrived 2 weeks ago and he has being coming to call and meeting me at the gate, Had a couple of times hes tried to not be caught, but nothing more than my mare does.
Mounting was a real issue and you could see it was fear, not him playing up. As soon as you lifted a leg to go for the stirrup, he'd be off.
Anyway, had out a local intelligent horseman and he was great! Worked with Benji for easily 2 hours, getting him desensitized and giving me tips. Anyway, by the end I could get on and off unaided with Benji standing stock still, in just a rope halter and saddle.
Now hes told me he will probably still be difficult, but to work through the exercises he gave me before every ride, and practice the on and off, but I am a very happy lady :O)
