Thought I would share my good news with you all, I have finally had my leg taken out of plaster today after breaking my leg and ankle in 3 places from falling off my youngster . It's still VERY swollen and bruised, have little to no flexion in my ankle  but I'm out so finally on the road to recovery :D.

My question is though, when can I get back riding ? As I said, still very sore and stiff so I'm guessing it'll be a couple of weeks? If I had a safe plod maybe sooner but with my rather lively steed I think it may take a bit longer. Anyone else been in the same situation? And how long did you leave it?

Thanks :)

Sounds like you have had a bad time of it. I wouldnt rush it back into the saddle, you may regret it. Think you should be guided by your Doctor on this. I have just had my arm in plaster a week now and am counting down til its off. Its so frustrating isn't it? Moreso for you not being mobile although I can't drive at the moment. Good luck!

Thank you. Yes, the immobility is a real pain! I was lucky enough to be able to work from home else my pay would have been halved :(. In regards to driving, the doctor said that I can drive when I'm able to do an emergency stop (need to practice in car with engine off) I think that's going to take some time :(. Good luck with your arm - was it also horse related?

Yes it was unfortunately. Broken wrist and kicked on leg, bruise looks like a map of England and is all colours of the rainbow. I couldnt start my car let alone hold the steering wheel at the moment. Just be careful with your Car Insurance, check with them first before you drive. Last thing you need is a bump and to find your Insurance invalid. Its amazing how we take our bodies for granted. I applaud these Disabled Dressage riders like Lee Pearson - so inspiring!
