OK, am going to preface this with a short announcement: there are no photos of todays events as couldn't hold camera whilst lunging bucking, farting pony

Sorry!

So, on to the report

Yay
Jelly is getting the hang of this lunging lark and actually seems to quite like it. This fact can be discerned by a few easy to read pointers. Firstly the tail held aloft whilst farting move(this is NOT very ladylike). Secondly the well timed snort to indicate that the aforementioned occurance is about to take place(this is quite amusing til you notice that you're being 'watched' by several people who think a farting pony is hilarious). Thirdly, the bucking whilst farting move....now this IS amusing, even if you do wish that you weren't the person lunging said pony and getting laughed at!

Jelly has also now mastered the art of wearing a lunging roller without going sky high when you do it up. The bad news is that above the ground acrobatics have now been replaced with a bizarre foot shuffle that usually results in some kind of pain for the handler(usually a squashed toe...or 5) She thinks that wearing the roller means she's now 'posh', hence the bucking and farting and acting the idiot routine described above!
The 'Useless' tag has now been replaced with 'Useful as she's learned a few new 'tricks' today whilst working in-hand. Leg-yeilding and turn on the forehand are in the process of being discussed and mastered. We have the leg yield with more sideways than forward, or the leg yield with plenty of forwards but no sideways, but she's getting the idea and gave a few good steps at the end which resulted in cries of "Good girl' and "Naww, who's a cutie"

The turn on the forehand she finds quite easy, especially when she combines the move with trying to look at the gelding in the next field who she'd like to get better acquainted with!

All in all though, twas a good day

Neigh
Ouch, b*ggery and bl00dy hell! Aforementioned bucking and farting antics have left me a hobbling Dragon with a very sore hip and twisted knee

At one point bucking pony was sworn at for being a fool.....not that she cared ofcourse as she was having far too much fun to give a damn about what I was doing!
She's still a little worried by the lunge whip, hence working her in hand to try to desensitise her to it. Working her on her blind side has to be done with abit of care as obviously this is all new to her and she can get abit worried.
She's a very intelligent little pony, so anticipates what you want her to do. She can turn on a knife edge and will decide when she's had enough going one way and simply do an about face before you've even had time to blink! This needs to be addressed, little madam

Today was a very good day for Jelly, and I'm very proud of her and just how quickly she picks up on things. Whoever had her before JAK did her a great disservice by leaving her in a field as she just loves the interaction that 'working' provides. It's an absolute joy to be called to when going to see her and I can't ever imagine not having her around.

Hope you enjoyed reading about her day...I'm sure that she'll drop by very soon to give her version of events
