Here's my filly (now three years old) on one of our walks around the lanes. I really should be getting fitter by now, but the hills still kill me and she finds them even easier.

Having a look at something very interesting...

... what could it possibly be?

Oooh, Alpacas!

These are the ones that my chestnut mare hates with a passion. They are very friendly and nosey so they nearly always come over to say 'hello'. :p

The second picture is fantastic!!!

Your filly is very pretty, is she an arabian or welsh B?

Edited to add, I can't decide how tall she is!

She's an arab and is still 14.3hh. She's not grown at all for the last few months, although she has filled out alot. I really want her to make 15hh and I have talked to her very nicely about it. Hopefully she listened. :D ;)

There are actually four alpacas but one of the brown ones didn't come over to the gap in the hedge, so I couldn't photograph her. :( The dark brown one on the right is the male and he loves to be scratched (I haven't tried this while riding the chestnut though! :p ).

She is still young, she could easily make that height yet :)

I love those alpacas, not too sure what my horses would make of them though, I don't think any of them have ever seen creatures like it! I don't blame your chestnut for being unsure they do look odd leering over the hedge ;)

Your filly is beautiful.

I used to ride past a field full of alpacas. My old gelding found them fascinating and used to gorp at them every time we went past. I wouldn't let him get too close though, some of them aren't that friendly are they?

Thank you. :D

I have been warned that they (the alpacas ;) ) will spit if they are worried, so I am careful. They've lived with horses before so I'm sure they wouldn't spit at her, just me! :p

Ooh your filly is gorgeous, I have a little 3 yr old anglo arab who is 15hh at the mo and I'd very much like to stretch him to 15.2hh, I think he will as they have a few more years of very slow growing yet so you should be fine too. I love alpacas, we used to have some down the road from where we lived too, ooh and pigs!
Where abouts in Wales are you? I'm in wales too!

Awww she looks ovely, she's very light isn't she.

If she's doesn't make 15h you can always send her to me ;) :D

Love the 2nd pic, I'd give anything to have the lovely Welsh hills to walk around in....hills an all!

Thank you. :D

We put the 3 yr old Shetland Stallion in the very large paddock with 3 alpacas, and he is a right annoying little s***...... when we got him in at bedtime, he was green all over with spit!!! haha

Thank you for all your nice comments :D

The alpaca's field is really steep and when they hear clp-clopping of hooves they rush up the hill to the gap in the hedge to say hello. So all you hear is a rush of tiny feet, followed by four little heads suddenly appearing. They also say 'mehp' quite alot once they're at the hedge. Thinking about this, I'm very proud of my filly for taking it all in her stride. :)

I'm near Welshpool, it is beautiful, especially in the snow but we have been snowed in for a bit the last two winters!

I'd love to see an alpaca-spit covered shetland :p , was he better behaved after that little incident?

ETA. Kenzo, there's some old photo's of her in the 'how have your greys changed colour?' thread. :)
