Right. I had a meeting on the yard with the YO and we agreed that I would buy some extra fencing posts to strengthen the existing tall fence seperating my horse from the ones he attacked. However the owner of one of the horses he attacked was not happy so I have now ordered 40 new tall fence posts and 200m of tape to double fence the one he jumped. However after I had ordered this I got a call from YO asking me to also relapce the fencing down the other side of his field (the one adjacent to the empty field) aaaaarrgg. Just ordered the fencing so a bit annowing.

To try and stop all arguments I will be ordering today a complete new fence for all sides of my field PLUS a new energiser so I am completely seperate as I am fed up of the arguments over the existing energiser, batteries and how much it can do.

As someone said on my last post it was understandable if it happened alot but he's been in the current configuration for a year and this is the first time he's ever jumped out.

As someone who also has to replace some posts as her yearling filly (with help from a 2 yr old

) keeps destroying it you have my total sympathy

You have my sympathy to. my 6yr old has found it funny to jump out twice and beat up my two year old. I was lucky really that both were my horses but the youngster has got some decent cuts to show for it.
We have had to put in extra high wooden posts to stop him and fingers crossed it has worked so far!

I think double fencing between the occupied fields will be the answer. It only takes one escape to possibly cause devastating injuries to the neighbouring horses. You'll be able to relax once its up!

make sure the YO knows that the fencing is yours (tho fencing is her responsibility unless a repeated offender) and make sure you take it all with you if you leave as i feel this is only the tip of the iceberg, head of the spot however you want to phrase it. re read your contract... is he lacking in nice grass in his confinement area? i have a cob who likes to go on tour at this time of year. worth putting some hay/hayledge/tub of damp readigrass in there to amuse him?

My eventer will never stay put in a field he is in if not 110% happy so I do know how you feel.

You are doing all you can to try and sort out the situation, has the YO considered putting the fencing onto mains electric. Batteries are all well and good but they do lose charge and horses somehow sense this.

As above is their enough grass, room, companionship for your horse or is he just escaping thorough boredom. I hope this sorts it for you, we have a 12hh pony at the moment causing chaos and we are pulling our hair out as how to keep him where he should be.
