Anyone else preping yearlings for Tatts or Doncaster?
We've started ours this week, and are having heaps of fun already

I've ended up with the stroppiest filly ever

She is so sharp with her hinds

Got myself a lovely swollen bruise on my arm already from booting her up! She is seriously quick with those hind legs, don't think I'll be tacking her up alone for a week or so as yet

My colt is just gorgeous though, a bit unsure still, but taking it all in his stride. He's very nicely bred, and will make quite a lot of money hopefully. He is by Dansili, who is very popular at the moment.
Exercise is going fine though, they're all good on the walker, and in hand walking has been uneventful really. Give them a week and it'll be a different story though!
Can't wait to see how they look in 8 weeks! Must remember to get before and after pics this time. Especially before I attack their manes, they all look like shaggy bears at the moment

Unfortunately am in Thetford, with stupid rehabs. I prepped for Coolmore Australia a few years back and that was really hard work but a fantastic working atmosphere, wish the same could be said for current job. I will be up for a nosey at Sales, am off 9th and 10th Oct as it is my birthday on 10th and I like to try to meet up with some of my old friends while they are in town. A friend of mine works for Hascombe, he has a few interesting ones that I am interested in seeing and I always go and see Kirtlington as I worked there. The Catalogues look interesting, which book are you in? Anyway I may not being doing prep but I still have to feed at 6.30 most mornings!

Hascombe is just up the road from me (literally!) haven't had a chance to scan the catalogues yet, just our pages to see what stables we're in.
We're in book 1, 2 and 3

2 yearlings in each one which is quite good really as we'll only have 2 up there at a time, much more managable. Part 1 is going to be busy though, as we have a rather nice Dansili which is getting interest already, as well as a full bro to a Gp2 winner. I just hope the prices are good for us this year.

Nikki, are you guys seriously only now prepping for Donnie?

We've just sold a draft at Deauville, have a load more shipping up for Donnie on Friday and have a few going over to Baden-Baden, as well as the main draft to Tatts Oct.

LOL, no, we're not doing Donnie

Just Tatts Oct, which gives us 7 weeks for the part 1 horses, 8 weeks for the others.
How many you sending to Tatts SN? Will you be at the sales? We should meet up for a sausage sarnie

LOL!! You had me worried there for a moment!

Only got 23 going to Tatts. We are retaining our best fillies this year, which include a full sister to a 1000 Guineas winner and a Pivotal filly from the family of Magical Romance. Yeah I'll be there, certainly for Bk1! But I don't eat sausages lol!

How can you not eat sausages??? The wallbox kitchen sarnies are the best in the entire world

I lose loads of weight during prep, then put it all back on at the sales
grin.gif

I must refrain this year though, our last yearling sells on the Thursday (book 3) and I get married on the Saturday

Well I am used to selling over 100 in Bk1 at the Keeneland September Sale, so 23 is a tiny amount to me.

I can't eat bread either - I'll have a coffee lol!! So should you by the sounds of it!! An yes you are completely MAD to be getting married straight after the sales!!!
