I have a 16 month colt which I'm getting castrated in April (bless him) and was wondering what training I can do with him to hopefully stick by for his future. He's okay to lead (sometimes is very stubborn when leaving the stable area) he doesn't spook at much of his surroundings, he's very good with things being put over him or noises around him. I have taken him for walks down our country roads. He was fine the first time out but the other two times I've taken him out we get so far before he starts throwing a tantrum and rears as a sign that he wants to go back.
I've worked with young horses and yearlings before but this is my first time owning one as I prefer to train them myself so I can get the best out of him without little interference.
Any ideas on training that I could do with him as time passes until the age where I can work with him properly?
Thank you.
