EDT checked teeth today and found x2 wolf teeth that said would need removing this time next year. I was thinking about doing some inhand showing, I have no experience of in hand but I assume yearling needs to be bitted to enter is that right? I don't want to bit for fear of the wolf teeth causing discomfort. Should I wait another year when they have been removed? Also are wolf teething the same as overcrowded teeth and do they always need to come out? Thanks in advance. x

Is the yearling a filly, colt or gelding as I think only un-cut colt yearlings have to be bitted for showing? If a filly or gelding you could choose a bitless inhand bridle.

If you have to bit for your chosen classes, assuming you would show using a thin straight-bar rubber snaffle (speciically for youngstock showing) and providing the wolf teeth aren't huge or causing pain ATM, I do no see why your yearling could not wear an inhand showing bridle for showing classes if you needed him/her to. Particularly if you can do plenty of ground work at home so that he/she is used to leading in a mannerly fashion, as they are bound to get a bit excited at their first couple of shows.

I bitted my yearling filly for the BEF Futurity and she was marvellously accepting of it all.
