would you enter shows with them?
Asking for friend as honestly don't know if less is best or is every weekend too mich.
Thank you

If the yearling is no stressed at shows then every weekend is not a problem so long as they get the whole week to chill out and regain some energy. However if they find it a little stressful or too exciting then I'd be inclined to make it every other wkend so they didn't get exhausted.

If you can get youngster out and about all the better as it means going out under saddle will be a lot more familiar and they won't worry so much.

I do think every weekend is a bit much for a yearling, all for getting them out a few times for experience but I would never hammer a yearling showing - very few prolifically shown youngsters ever replicate their success under saddle. They need time just to be babies.

Our yearling has been to 11 shows this season & has 2 more to do. He is in great condition and doesnt drop travelling or with being at ashow. Being a colt he does have a sparkle tho. He travels in the trailer alone & is happy to stand in the trailer with the front ramp down. He seems happy enought to go out.
Our boy is out with a group of others and has another colt to play boy games with.

He will tell you if it is too much

,they should get out for the experience, but he still needs time to be a baby, listen and watch his behaviour, you will know if he has had enough

,dont sour him as he has another 2yrs before being under saddle, let him enjoy the experience

,youngsters soon get bored so maybe keep it as a learning curve for him

I'd think it was a souring issue rather than a health. if he's shown inhand (no matter how much youenjoy it there is alot of boring standing around) they loose their sparkle when they go out when their older.
