My mare has been off for the last 6months standing twiddling her hooves waiting for her hock to fuse naturally in the field. She hasnt been looked at much as it pained me that i couldnt do anything with her. She missed all the big shows she has qualified for and all summer

I booked her back into the vets on wed to get a check on the fusion process and see how far along she is.
Well my vet trotted her up barefoot and she was springing along (last time she looked like her leg was broke) He was soo pleased with her that he said it was very unusual for a horse esoecially a 5yr old to not need any medical intervention for the treatment (phew bank balance intact for awhile longer!)
He said i could bring her back into work and do all as before but not to jump over 80cm for awhile. So my farrier came out the next day but her shoesies back on for me to enjoy her again. Well..i cant lunge her as not allowed and i have mine at home but OH refused to get off the settee to see me off. So i said if he didnt see me going past the window in 15mins come pick me off the ground!
Armed with her saddle and bridle i went tacked her up as before which she gladfully took the bit girthed up, didnt move, put her boots on ears are straining forward sorted stirrups walked out to the mounting block and on.......Nothing, not a flinch!
So a 5yr old mostly tb mare not rode in 6months just saunters up the road (well not really sauntered that was the only interesting bit she was VERY keen to be back in work again and didnt want to go anything slower than trot or a marching walk sideways and every which way!)
She hadnt forgot a thing and trusted me impeccably hacking out again on her own what a wee superstar i love when horses are sane!
