yellow eyes

erm, where in my post did i say it was MY horses eyes which were yellow ?? my horses are all perfectly healthy as i can actually be bothered to look after them. the horse in question was a horse that my friend went to view which was riddled with worms, looked like a hat rack, was very stiff in the back legs, could barely support it's own weight, looked like it was 20 yrs old instead of 8 and had yellow eyes which i said was more then likely liver damage but was just asking on here if there was anything else that would cause the eyes to yellow.

Hey hun, don't get your underwear in a tangle! Only trying to help! You didn't say it WASN'T your horse so I think people are entitled to assume it was unless provided with other info. Sadly, the most common reason for jaundice in a badly neglected horse will be ragwort poisoning. Sounds like the horse your pal went to view needs reporting to somebody.

Do you mean the sclera (white of the eye) or the iris?

Yellowing (jaundice) is caused by a build up of bilirubin in the blood (due to lives damage/poor function). It can be seen in very under-the-weather horses without permanent liver damage.

End stage copper poisoning will give iris's a yellow tint.
And some horses have naturally yellow iris- i've meet a couple of highlands with golden eyes.
