So there was a little riding club show yesterday and I decided to take my youngster- she's 6 but had a foal at 5 so very green. She's a nervous girl, when I got her in February you couldn't pat her without her flinching and she would turn her head away from you so that she didn't have to look at you while you were doing things to her (scary things like grooming/tacking up/rugging). She has come on very well recently so I thought I'd give it a go.....
Got there around 11 to plait up and she was caught relatively easily, put her in the stable and stood on the BHS standard white plastic lawn chair to plait, she stood like a rock and I had it all done in 20 minutes so I had to wait for my friend who was plaiting "properly" with thread and everything. Loaded up with minimum of fuss (little bit of standing at the bottom of the ramp but nothing stupid) travelled without incident and arrived running a little late.
I got changed in the box and my friend tacked Mad up, she was fine and really calm! She looked around but no dancing/snorting or anything. I managed to warm up for ten minutes with transitions and general wandering to make sure she wouldn't throw a wobbly and she was so good! It was as if she had done this every day. Did dressage test, she was so good no flapping except a little scared of the trailer of poles beside the menage so circles and straight lines a little wobbleyer than expected. Video is quite boring so don't bother watching if you are sleepy!

Apart from her being unsteady in her head I think she did really well. Then we went for low baby jumping (around 12- 18") and she didn't fancy the fillers much so we had 2 refusals and maybe 4 down in the first round! Second round I even got a canter, only one refusal and maybe 2 down. Refusal was at second part of double which had scary brick wall fillers to the sides and had been put up to 2 feet
!
The only thing she had an issue with was the scary balloons that were put up in the handy pony ring which she had to walk vaguely near, but the organisers were so nice and actually took all the balloons down! Oh, and then she was very scared of MY DOGS who were on their leads with my friend, jeez!
To top it all, I was 6th in the dressage! I was also 7th in the jumping but that doesn't count because there were only 7 of us....
Lots of people said how pretty she was too which I was surprised about as I generally think of her as a bit of a moose....
You all get bacon sarnies and tea for reading!
