Yet another place that we are not welcome

I think it is a shame, but every time I go to Edenbridge & Oxted show, I am amazed by the amount of people who take their dogs, especially very young puppies. I wouldn't take my dogs because I don't want them to get trodden on. Why do people take their dogs - is it because they can't leave them at home ? There used to be a big problem with fouling, but now they hand out poo bags at the entrance which is a good idea and seems to work.

Do you take your dog because you want to stay all day at the show ?

Yes. I can't leave him at home all day - it would be totally unfair. These occasions are also good socialisation opportunities.

oh well thats another another one off our list then.
we always take our gal out on days out she is part of our family & treated as such, we accept that some places cant have dogs (food shows ect) so we do not visit those its the same principle on our other hobby that involves being away weekends (no dog, no us!)
we choose to have a dog in our lives so will not shut her at home or in kennels so wew can go out places & she loves being out & about as much as we do.

Thats really unfortunate :( I am planning on taking my dog to lots of shows this year I would have done more in the past but my previous dog wasn't really the sort of dog you could expect to behave in public :o Fudge is very well behaved though and I am sure he will love going along to the horsey and doggy shows with us :)

In all the various shows/events I have been to, which are well and truly populated with dogs, there has been very very little dog poo left around. In fact I really struggle to remember seeing any!

As for why I take my dogs - I do pick my events but as both mine are staffies and people lovers they enjoy mooching around with me plus they seem to attract a lot of attention and cuddles. There are some I won't take them to, so for me, Badminton on XC day now is pretty much a no no with dogs - not a chance in hell of getting into a shop if I have them with me and it is SOOO crowded. Plus which does seem to bring out a lot of people wandering with dogs on extenible leads in crowded areas! Will also leave them behind if its excessively hot as they don't enjoy that either.

I saw this in the local paper, seems such a shame, however, it is always so busy at the show I'm not sure how much the dogs "enjoy" it themselves but I quite understand about people wanting to take their dogs so they can stay out all day.

We will be there with the dogs as we always go to the dogs show, however, our walking around the showground time tends to be limited and we usually take in turns to go for a wander with our daughter, or on our own, whilst the other (or a dog show friend) remains at our "base" to keep an eye on the dogs. Three dogs and a small child/buggy plus all those crowds really do not mix!!
