after vet again this morning the decision was finally made to refer him to Rossdales.

After numerous tests and another examination they have said they are certain its an Impaction and just needs alot of help shifting...he is also very dehydrated which isnt helping. So Plan of action in to tube him every 4 hours day and night and keep him on a IV drip to hydrate him to hopefully flush it all through. They have said he will be there till Sun/Mon providing it wrks and when offered food it doesnt reaccure!

So Please can My boy have some more of those vibes???

Poor lad, bet he feels really miserable. At least he is going to have round the clock monitoring and attention and the staff at Rossdales are fantastic.

Sending lots more vibes the impaction passes quickly and you get him home soon. Hugs to you as well.
 
lots of hugs for your boy and you. He is in the best possible place with round the clock supervision. Do keep us posted. Crossing everything for you.
 
Thallie only just read this. I have had two experiences of bad colic cases BOTH turned out OK.

CASE 1

My mare had severe colic after fracturing pedal bone. Was tubed and had all the various treatments (worst day was when I arrived to find a stable full of blood where she was tubed and had a nose bleed) eventually referred for surgery a decision not taken lightly as we had to load a mare with a surgical shoe on box rest into a trailer.

She kicked the trailer all the way and with each kick sound my heart bled a little more. She was only 10 and a super horse.

Anyway the day they were due to operate they did another inspection and found ulcers caused by high doses of bute.

The Pedal Bone didnt heal well and she retired - she is now 25 and a hack and a very happy bunny.

CASE 2 Gulliver had his Colic attack one Christmas. Ended up going to vets for observation. After several days and a lot of heartache and tears his guts sorted themselves out. It was an impaction and the vet said the faeces they pulled out was like lumps of wood.

He was put on an additive cant remember what that went gel like in his feed to make his droppings soft and slimey and that was over 10 yeras ago and has never happened since.

Hope this helps they can recover very well from the calamities of Colic.
 
I know he is in the best place and they are giving him round the clock care

Think he is begining to like Rossdales too much though.....he has been there more times this year than I care to think about!
