Is he human?? After all.. what a very strange thing to want to feed a horse.

I would imagine he is from one of the feral underclasses.

By no means am I sticking up for the guy - but it worries me that one of the clauses is for riding the horse without shoes on a gravel road. I can only surmise that the horse was obviously in pain whilst doing this (but I wish the article would make that clear). Otherwise, I'll have everybody trying to sue me too, for riding my own horses without shoes on gravel roads (as well as a host of other surfaces).

Nothing surprises me when it comes to cruelty anymore - humans have an evil side. No matter to horse nor human it seems.

As they say, the abscence of light is darkness, I often wonder when I read/hear such awful stories, how they ever got to there in the first place!!!!

Does that mean I'm going to have to rush out and have shoes put on my three mules and 8 mini donks, none of whom have ever had shoes in their life!!

Seriously though you never hear in these articles exactly WHY people do these things, what on earth was going on in their thick empty sculls?!!!

I also don't understand how you can force feed a horse peppers?

Surely if the horse doesn't want something I'd be damned if I could force them to eat it. Unless he starved the poor mare and only offered her peppers to eat??? I can only assume the mare had bad feet and was in pain from riding along a gravel road?...

WHY do people do such strange things?

the use of the word '***, jock, paddy, taff, niger et all is offensive if used to describe the so called thief, murderer etc. Just because someone is an Italian, Scot, Irish man or whatever, doesn't really come into the picture and certainly doesnt mean that they are automatically criminals or shady customers. I am married to a *** and a more honest person, I will never find.
I have probably explained myself badly due to living in *** land for more than 20 years.I apologise.

What a strange thing to do! The poor horse, I'm glad she has been taken off him. IMO a one year sentence isn't enough for the extent of the cruelty suffered by the horse though!

I think that word is an old racist term used to describe people of Italian descent.

Thanks for that, I had no idea! Sorry if I've offended anyone.

tbh, I think its a case of animal rights gone wrong. There is no way on this planet that I would be able to force feed even lettuce to my horses and to be found guilty of trotting them on a gravel path while unshod...well Ef me. As for the leather belt....????

animal rights go wrong? The mare has a collapsed lung currently, that's not normal.
One would assume he was thrashing the horse and she was hobbling down the road, and whils TI have no idea how you force feed a horse, it stands that he was convicted of it. That's not animal rights gone wrong, that's abuse.
