ZHaving decided to tough it out after some one borrowed my tack including breadtplate permenantly gone I boarded up my tacklocker. Have had no hastle for two weeks since then . Came down this evening to find some one had taken the trouble to get an empty plastic bag, pick up a load of chicken poo and put the lot into the pllastic wallet by my stable door. These are used by the yard owner to put weekly payment sheets in.I reported it to yard owner who was as disgusted, upset and annoyed as me. He said he was suprised as Imnot one of those who has got into a fight with anyone on the yard. I am reaaly perplexed and upset as all I do is go up, rode myhorse,go home. As we currently have 2x many horses for the number of stables I wonder if some one is trying to scare me off? Its such a shame as horse loves the yard and his heard, I love the turn out and hacking but I am finding this increasingly hard to cope with. I keep thinking, have I upset any one? Did my son playing woith the yard owners son upset some one? Why on earth should I worry like this? I really wish I had never relocated from the midlands now!

I'm thinking some kind of CCTV is the answer. You can get little video cameras for about £50, set one up and see if you can catch the sod in the act:mad:

poor you... it really does sound like you've upset someone. is it worth asking around to see what it might be and perhaps smooth things over, it might be something simple, that you[ve done innocently and that has been taken the wrong way/twisted?

(((hugs)))

Yep i agree with spudlet or leave. This is disgusting behaviour i would not put up with any of it. Are you the only one it keeps happening with?

Oh, how awful.

Why can't people just come out and air their problem with you.
It is very juvenile behaviour, that's for sure.

Are you sticking it out, or thinking of moving on?

Y/O is taking measures that I can't detail in case culprit is on this forum! I honestly can't think of anything I may have done other than exist as I hardly see anyone on the yard as I work long hour.I honestly can't see what ther is to smooth things over as I haven't done anything so can't see what's to smooth and I would prefer not to know who this mental pygmy is. My main worry is this escalating to violence against my horse. My husband is anti me moving as there isn't much choice of yards around here. He walked up in winter to muck out for me and we don't have much money which knocks out part livery out of the arts
so frustrating as I keep myself to myself to avoid issues like this. Others have had small value items stolen recently but not this additional petty nastyness. Had a really good day at work but lomg 8.00 till 17.45 on some complex work, sad to say I got excited when I saw full wallet as last week nice girl in next stable had left birthday cake so was quite shocked to find chicken poo in it!

Thanks all for listening!

If there trying to run u out don't give them the satisfaction buy a camera and make sure yard owner fully aware of whats going on is he looking into the thefts? has anyone not had anything taken?

i would personally stay just to pi** them off u have just as much right to be on there

How awful for you. That is just totally unnecessary and disgusting behaviour. I agree with CCTV option and I hope you catch who is doing it, as I think it is them who should have to leave the yard!

Omg!! Not something again.

At least they can't get into your tack anymore and that the yo is going to take some measures on this.

Hope you get sorted soon, you shouldn't have to move just cause someone wants your stable.

If it was me, I would make a booby trap so whoever it was was covered in paint or something.

Someone really does sound a tad unhindged at your yard though.. I mean seriously, chicken poo? No chance someone picked it up for their flowers and just put it in your locker whilst they went to do something? Or had they emptied it?

The YO should check folks feet to see whos boots are either full of chicky chit or sparkling clean!

disgusting behaviour, something you'd expect to hear from a 13 year old boy!
Don't move a muscle. Someone is obviously very childish!
Hope this doesn't continue x

Before toughing it out, I believe you should have gone for the CCTV camera (and show it on big screen at annual yard summer party).

Really, as much as you "like" it there, you should move out before something seriously happens too you OR your horse. And really, I can't believe your YO is that laid back to simply be "flabberghasted" by this type of behaviour. This is literally bullying and he should go out of his way to sort it out... at the very least let EVERYONE at the yard know what is going on through a yard meeting or letters. Then, he should also let them know that whoever it was would be kicked out with no notice whatsoever. And really, you should have some fighting spirit - terrify anyone so that they'd never do this to you. IMHO, I think whoever those people are see you more as the "mat" everyone walks over. Don't be a "fluffy bunny" to them!!!

To be honest i think your YO should have done more to deal with this mentalist when they first started leaving unexpected items in your horses bed! It's all very well and good being flabberghasted but they should be fuming that someone is trying to lose them a good livery!! I would have moved after the first incident but if you want to try and stick it out then i agree to rig up some kind of covert camera would be good, get some concrete proof then nail the wierdo that is messing with you. Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks all, I think in terms of tracking some one down the difficulty is that the poop came from direclty opposite me stable as chickens have used the door of the feedroom opposite as a roost. Some one had scopped up a handful and shoved it in the wallet outside my door which is clearly marked with my name on it. i agree that y/o should have acted sooner and has behaved as though I am imagining the whole thing. I feel like digging my heels in but worry about my horse. I havent bought cctv as the cost has put me off and as I mentioend y/o looks like he will be taking action at last.

After the first 2 x incidents (tampon and then theft of horses first aid kit) I left messages making it clear what i would do to the culprit and I dont think people would mess with me face to face (Im an ex VAT inspector and apparantly give off dont mess with vibes) hence this sort of spiteful behaviour.

I tried a different tack re the last incident before this one (which was use of my bridle and boots and theft of breastplate) and then this happens! The y/o suggested that it might be people who had been asked to leave and then allowed back on, but as I pointed out the tack thing happended in the period when they had moved of the yard and both are always immaculate and clean types so the lastest incident it not their style.

I have now found out that another livery had various incidents such as scissors left in her stable and her horses forelock chopped off, that was belived to be by people who are no longer on the yard and one girl had the under panels of her saddle slashed - nice!

First of all if people fight on the yard why does the yard owner put up with it and not send them on their way? Our yard owner stands no messing about and if you dont behave on their property your off. Secondly I feel for you and yes you should stick it out but I bet your at the point now where you dread going to be with your horses.

There is a massive livery yard near us that has serious problems with fighting etc and people have stopped using them as they cannot manage their clients or enforce the rules.

Hope you catch them.

i wouldnt give them the satisfaction of leaving but at the same time i wouldnt stay to the point that this petty behaviour moves onto the horse. i think you should ask the YO for the cctv as its essentialy his problem. shame you cant set up a booby trap with like mice traps or something to snap at there theiving fingers! keep on at your YO if he doesnt do anything about it. how often do these things happen?
