I'm so p****d off!!!!!
I was so looking forward to a lovely day out.Got up early and got all my jobs done - husband would get horses in later so didnt have to worry about them getting cold. Quickly got showered and changed and set off for Stoneleigh.
Flew down the A14,onto M6 and then to the A46 as usual. Got just off the
A46 and came to an abrupt halt! FOR 2 HRS !!!! This journey from door to door usually takes me about 50 mins. I walked into YHL Nearly 3hrs from leaving home. Surely the YHL organisers could have liased with the local council to have the 4 way traffic lights removed on a day like today - there wasnt even any roadworks being done. It totally ruined my day. By the time I got into YHL the stands were absolutly heaving and I'd lost all appetite for shopping. Came home with zilch !!!

My friends were annoyed too but to be fair they had put on their facebook page to avoid Stoneleigh village (unfortunately my friend forgot!)

Ah I think you came in from the north. I will becoming across and from the south - didn't think I went anywhere near the village for the show ground.

Oh dear... I've been reading their facebook page. Bit of an organisational shambles by the sounds of things.

I'm going tomorrow but not holding much hope of getting into the demos.

I will b coming from worcestershire,so will those lights affect me? I don't remember having to go through a village.is it ppl comin up from south it affects?

Eek - I knew there were going to be roadworks but didn't think it would be 2 hours of them! We usually go through stoneleigh village but will def be attempting an alternative route tomorrow... That's awful.

Feathered... thanks that's what my oh said too. I'm leaving at 7 after doing horses, ill probs b there right early lol.just don't want to let doen the 3 others coming with me.

I went today with my work hat on. We got there just before 9am, and had no trouble (coming from M40), plus the stands were really empty! Left at about 3.30pm, and again, no traffic problems.

We did really well this morning - mind you I work round there so I knew about the road works as it affects me going home every night.

I suggest going via Tollbar Roundabout (known locally as Suicide Island because the lanes are all over the place) - you need to come off the M6 at J2 and drive down the A46 till you get to Toll Bar, then follow the signs for the airport. There's a small roundabout off to the left (2nd exit, I think), and you take the 2nd exit off this little roundabout. Drive right down parallel with the main airport runway and enter Bagington village. Turn left on the mini roundabout, through the village and just past the pub on the left you'll see a turning off to the right (there's a small paddock with some very nice ponies in it :)). Go down there and follow the twisty turny lane right down to a T-junction, turn left, then take the next right, signposted Abbey Park (the BHS offices are on this lane). Drive right down this twisty turny lane to the end then turn left, and you'll see the showground in front of you. The entrance is about half a mile further on.

Apologies to those coming from other directions, but your set your satnavs for Coventry Airport then follow the directions above and you should be OK.

It sounds a bit convoluted, but it's quite a pretty drive and you shouldn't meet any congestion... except for HHO members following these directions!

Aargh - I'm going tomorrow. I will be coming off the A46. Is it possible to avoid the carnage?

Paula

I dont know if it would work going in, but go in through the main entrance and park somewhere there and then walk down, thats the way my friends mum came to pick us up, also there is way to avoid all the traffic going home :)

Go via the airport in the next village, there's no traffic lights! YHL knew about the lights a MONTH ago and still didn't employ any traffic control staff.

Go through Stareton village, the main entrance is straight ahead, turn left and then the entrance to parking is half a mile up road on the right. You will be coming in opposite way to all the traffic, I got in no problem this morning.

Had no trouble getting there.

Came off the M40 onto the A46 and straight into YHL No problem in parking or getting into the show. Arrived at about 10.30am and left at 5.30pm , again no problem getting out.

Had a great day there.

Had no trouble but then I never go through the village its usually closed for traffic anyway when somethings on at Stoneliegh...just watch where you park tomorrow though as its pretty wet and cars were having a bit of trouble today so it'll be worse tomorrow

One of my old jobs was doing radio stations for major events....if you all suggest to them to have event radio next year, I'll get in touch to try to get one for next year & make sure it gives you the information you need ;) just like Truckfest...

Had no problems getting there as came out opposite the main entrance. wasnt very impressed though with traffic management tonight. was in car park 2 long walk back to cars in the pitch black over a very slippery bridge no lights at all. then took me over half an hr to get out of the car park. there was one guy making a mess of getting people out and in the end two members of the public ended up helping him he was doing such a bad job. Will be going really early tomorrow and leaving late i think.

Got stuck in traffic for two hours after a long drive. There were people getting out of cars and using the fields as toilets! Not nice :( Missed first show as a result. Parking field was wet, muddy and dark on return to car. Not sure if ill bother next year :(

Car park staff were hopeless. We were meeting my husband to help on the trade stand, carpark for exhibitors was not sign posted so pulled into the first sign posted car park and asked steward, yes he assured me, just go up here and park. Got to top of car park and realised it was normal carpark area, asked another steward who said, yes other exhibitors parking here too.
So lugged heaps off stuff to entrance gate, only to find a queue of other exhibitors who had done the same thing only to find there was no entrance at that gate till 9am. So everyone had to lug everything back to cars, go back to road and find the right car park. Not impressed

Use a map!!!! We saw the traffic jam and got the map out and avoided it!!! Hit the traffic jam at 9.30. Got the map out, 15 mins later in our seats ready to watch Carl and Charlotte. Get rid of the satnav and you'll be fine!!

The point is yhl staff knew about the roadworks ages ago, this is not a new event its being going on for years so its not as if they didnt know about the amount of people likely to be going, so why were there not diversion signs up to miss he roadworks??

The signs for the event were in the wrong places so people went through the village and got stuck in roadworks.

You have to que to get in, que for demos, que for toliets, que for food and que to get out!

A lot of very rude people pushing and shoving, rude car parking staff and its not cheap either!

I hope they sort the traffic for today.

Didnt really want to go this year and wish I hadnt now.
