Well, according to the BSJA website, neither of them has any winnings now, so I assume I can jump Bo in a British Novice......right

What have they done to their computer now!

And despite re-registering nearly a month ago, I am STILL showing on the internet as being expired so can't view my horses' records.

Ooooh....so does that mean you're going to NH then

I did mine recently and was amazed at the turnaround. I sent it on the Monday and had it back by the Thursday so i was able to jump on the Sunday. Was really impressed with that side of it.

It sure does

I 'm jumping on the Sunday though and doing the 90cm 1st round and maybe 2nd round if i get through but i doubt it LOL

My horse gained most her winnings in 2001 and 2002 before the new system came in, I know she has over £300 notional but according to the BSJA it's only around £220 (I think). Obviously I would encourage any new rider to only enter Opens and Foxhunter as I don't approve of cheating.

Good stuff...will probably see you there then

BTW - The 1st Rounds now don't allow you to jump the 2nd Rounds that are currently running. They qualify for next Oct / Nov 2nd Rounds....sorry !

The notional system is sensible. It was introduced some years ago so that better prize money could be offered in novice classes without horses being upgraded too quickly.

[ QUOTE ]
For example a BN might have a 1st prize of £50 but you only get graded on £25 of it. Dont know why it seems daft.

[/ QUOTE ]

Not as daft as a 4yo jumping two BN's for £50 first prize each, and then being out of the class coz only a handful of horses started, and it happenned to win them both by jumping a steady DC both times

The Notional / Actual thing was introduced to make SJ'ing more appealing as a sport (i.e more financially viable for competitors) by offering better prize money, without risking bringing horses up through the grades too quickly.

I do believe that a points system would have been less confusing mind you....and more in line with what happens abroad

I like the BSJA grading system and think it works well, but agree that a points system would be easier and more in line with the rest of Europe!

Rambo are you sure as when I went to a comp the other day the organizer said if I was placed I could jump this year

I would of run the BSJA but as I didn't get placed I didn't bother but she was adamanent.
I rejoined about 3 weeks ago and I'm still waiting for my membership cards.

Yep i'm as certain as I can be. All the qualification letters came out before 1st Oct.

Here's the wording from the BSJA websiote itself :-

[ QUOTE ]
First round competitions to be held from the 1st January 2006 – 31ST August 2006, there will be no restriction on the number of first round competitions held. Two Second Round competitions at each height will be allocated in each Region and will run from October to the middle of November. The Finals will be held towards the end of the year, as at present.

On the schedule its says this is the last chance to qualify?? They wouldn't say that then make you wait a whole year would they??
