Our 8mo GSD bitch will not stop yipping. She will do it at cats, visitors, us or just anything really.
She sometimes does it out on walks if she sees ramblers. I know how she feels

Her full brother is in the run next door and does not yip. She yips at him when he ignores her or doesn't want to play.
We have tried water, loud noises and ignoring her.
It is a most unshepherd-like noise. We are very experienced with German Shepherds but neither of us have had such a yippy puppy. It has been going on for weeks.
I could ignore it but mum runs accommodation and I imagine if I were a guest it would be very irritating.
It started at 7am this morning. The only good thing is that we are rural so we have no immediate neighbours who want to kill us......
Both excersised as frequently as their age allows.
Waffles if you made it down here.

It sounds as if she does it when she is a little anxious or excitable....could you try distracting her positively..i.e treats...when passing the ramblers try getting your attention on you...with a clicker and some treats or favourite toy...try and get her into the mind set of getting a reward for focusing on you.

With the visitors...lock her away whilst the initial excitement is going on...i.e them entering....then allow her to come and greet when they are settled and everything is calm, don't speak or praise her...if she starts to yipp.lol

im trying to imagine the yiping noise

then remove her from the area....only allow her to stay in the vacinity of you/guests when she is calm...this may take a few tries....her reward is staying in the room/area calm and yipless

With the kennel scenario....could this be the frustration of the barrier between the 2..could you not kennel them together, ot block the view altogether so she can't see him...or distract her by giving her somehing to take her mind of it...big juicy butchers bones or toys that she has to try and get treats from...keeping her mind occupied.

If using a clicker try and use it for different scenarios to get her attention.

Thanks Cala....it's a horrible noise!
Bit frazzled, just back from walking, they raised TWO hares which bounced off in opposite directions, she broke her lead but only got a few yards then stopped and stared into the trees and let me catch her, thank the lord....she's not all bad. Think bro would have been over the hills and far away.

She is much more excitable than bro and a wee bit needy...we can't kennel them together as he is entire (both are breeding prospects, don't want it to be with each other!!!)
Started to train both for tracking this weekend, maybe a job will help.
Will invest in a clicker!

I feel for you as it can become a terrible habit. Dont really know what to suggest other than what has already been said, so good luck

11.30pm last night and 3am, 5am, 6.30am this morning.
I love my dogs and so do our guests, I imagine :P
The Barkfree has been ordered and I may have to take the cats somewhere in a cardboard box while my mum isn't looking...only joking. For now.
