Yorkie Colouring

My Yorkshire terrier seems to have a lot more tan in his coat than usual- he is tan and silver.

Before it would be just his legs and chest really, but this coat seems to be tan all the way up to his shoulder blades in an arch on each side.

He's just turned 11- could that be the cause of the colour change? I thought they got grey-er as they got older not more tan!

Any ideas? Like I say, I expected him to get gray-er as he got older, not more tan!

I don't know about yorkies, but the gold on black and gold GSDs spreads over the shoulders , back and hindquarters as they get older.

I've just noticed actually when he came for kisses (he is a spoilt little pet) that he has a ring of silver around his nose very cute but I do not want him to get old.
