My friend, a fellow HHOer on here, is getting married in August, and I am struggling to find available (and affordable!) accommodation for myself and 2 kids (OH is staying behind to look after the horses) in the Yorkshire Wolds area. Everywhere is either fully booked (there are a few other things on that weekend it seems!) or incredibly expensive , or they will only book self catering places for 7 nights, not the 3 or 4 that we would like.

I've spent last night and much of this morning trawling unsuccessfully through accommodation websites and my eyes have gone funny :)

I don't really want to be in a tent as I'd like to look semi respectable on the day. We don't need hot tubs, champagne and chocolates or a huge fry up, just simple basic accommodation that isn't made out of canvas :D We don't mind quirky/out of the way things. Does anyone know of anything that might be available please?:)

Thank you :) I'll have a look at those. I don't mind if we're not particularly close to the wedding as we'll spend a few days exploring I hope, just need a base really :)

TBH, if you don't need to be too close to the wedding venue, I'd consider a Travelodge or Premier Inn, nearer to one of the more populated areas. They are not very expensive, especially if you are all prepared to share a room, have the facilities for enabling you to look presentable at the wedding and will give you a base to explore from.

Sorry, yes, the wedding is in Pocklington area, but like I say I don't mind not being on the doorstep as we'll be there a few days.

Thanks for replies, keep them coming, I'm checking them all out! :)

Hagg Bridge B and B in Storwood -Melbourne is fab. Stayed there over easter, the owner is a really nice lady and the accomodation was fantastic. It's right on the Pocklington canal and only about 5 miles from Pock. Thoroughly recommend it!!

That looks nice pixie :) I'd rather self catering as none of us eat huge breakfasts, but most of the SC I've tried so far is either already booked or they only take week to week bookings, not short breaks. I'll try this one ...

Thanks everyone :)
