You are not going to believe this....

Okay well that doesn't make any sense at all as didn't she have a corpus luteum just a few days ago  If she didn't actually have a CL a few days ago then the vet messed up and is giving you incorrect information. If she is now apparently producing another follicle then I would definitely say she is not having regular heats and is instead having transitional heats (which means they produce many little follicles which are not big enough to come to anything) which is normal at this time of year.

Mares really aren't sneaky :) They are programmed naturally. Dee is only doing what is natural to most mares at this time of year.

My thoughts too SF scan tomorrow to see what the hell is going on. The vet who scanned her isnt a repro vet....repro vet will scan tomorrow :)

My mare is confussing the hell out of me....

Stick with the repro vet only is my advice. I don't know how much you pay per scan but the bill can start to add up very quickly in this breeding game especially when you are close to breeding as unless you know your mares intimately then they may need to be scanned every 12 hours for days.

I've been where you are, I was a novice at AI once upon a time, thankfully I had one of the best teachers and although (like you) I didn't pay any attention to them with the first mare when they told me my mare was having transitional heats :D and she would not get pregnant, did I listen? Did I heck, I did the exact same as you and went ahead with loads of scans and spent a whole pile of money ... and got absolutely nowhere except bolstering the vets holiday fund! When I got the bill and no pregnancy to show for it, boy did I then sit up and listen to everything my breeding guru friend told me! And I changed vets! I ONLY use repro vets for my breedings now.
