He wouldn't even think about trying to bend and work properly or even attempt it in any pace other than walk. After 20 mins or so i gave up.

I was so frustrated and he was pulling my arms out i (stupid as it sounds) ended up in tears and just hugged the dog, felt such a failure.

I know the feeling. Have had hacks/lesson like that. Yesterday felt like crying as horse nearly squashed dog, but I had PMT at the same time.

Sometimes it can just be the day, the mood, our hormones, their hormones, just think perhaps he had a slight tummy ache, a little chill/temperature, a funny stiff muscle somewhere... could be absolutely anything at all. We never know....

Know those times and you think of all the money you spend on lessons (and i am at a yard where everyone else is so good too! Just rubs it in even more ) Enough of negatives - when you have a night like that best to end on a good note - any good note! Put horse to bed, hug dog and go home......the next day I would either go for a hack/jump or if not poss back into school and be prepared (think about it beforehand too) to spend the time in walk until everything is right - including me and then trot and end on a good note again. Easy to say but not so easy to do. Good luck!

Are you sure it couldn't be something physical? I know my horse always goes awfully if his pelvis is slightly out, or he has a tilt in his axis....might be worth treating him to a McTimoney? Do some carrot stretches as well - they can make a big difference.

Thanks.... still feel cr@p though....

Think its worse cos i'm on my own there at the moment, well until Weds as B and family are away, everything always seems worse on your own welll it does me anyway.

Can't go for hack (too dark) and don't like jumping with no one else there (not very safe) but might put some poles out and work over them instead... and lots of walk first!
