*touches wood, glass, a Cross, a dead goat, my bank statement, a magpie... (take your pick)*

These days, I sort of know it's going to happen, and in the fraction of a second before it does, I think, wearily, 'Oh. Bugger'. 'I wonder if it'll hur

Haha, I do that. The first time i fell off i knew, i just thought , 'i'm going' (had lost both stirrups and said horse had shot off into canter and wouldn't stop and he did a really sharp turn and i erm kind of flew very elegantly onto the floor) and i have every single time i've fallen off, you just kind of know and cross everything that you'll be ok haha

:D I did this out hunting a couple of years ago, I still remember it clear as a bell now; my horse tripped (just stumbled didn't go down) at a flat out gallop and I was a bit too far forward and eager, I started to go, though oh dear (or expletives to that effect) and I remember my best mate shouting 'sit back' as I took a graceful dive-forward roll onto the field.

Still came up smiling and uninjured! :D

When this happened....

I can distinctly remember thinking "bu**er, i'm going down", then i hopped back on came to it again and it happened a second time, that time i thought "i'm coming off... AGAIN??!"

Oh dear Sanolly! But which is worse? Being fired into the ground, or the :Oh Bugger" scenario?
Definitely being fired into the floor! The other time was on a 'beginners mock hunt' so there was actually a (new) paramedic there. Being new he was a bit 'more' concerned than the usual guy (who has seen enough falls to know when to run over or not ;)), so he's trying to fin out if I've actually broken myself (I was just winded) and I am too busy trying to shove him off to go reclaim Olly! Was a tad embarrassing and all caught on camera!

Apparently I managed to shout 'Oh ***** this is going to hurt' between the point of no return and actually hitting the deck once. My friends still laugh about it...

I know they say time goes faster as you get older, but on a couple of near misses recently, I've had loads of time to think 'Oh B*****r here we go' - both times I should have ended up on the ground - but somehow gravity didn't follow the laws of physics.

Weird, I was quite relaxed and just waiting for the bump, one of them was a 180 deg spin from standing straight into gallop down a steep hill - was pleased I didn't hit the deck 'cos I would have hated her to have carried on home without me - she would need to cross a busy A road.
