In a moment of compleate madness I desided to hack Herbs over to the local riding school and do some showjumping
The plan was to hack him over do a clear round and see how it went.
The hack over was abit of a nightmare at times. We havn't ridden on the road since we went showjumping last year. Herbs was fine with the traffic and even the union flags and bunting many people had out. But we were trotting along quite happily one moment then a split second later we were going twice as fast backwards  I still have no idea what he was looking at as there was nothing there. The road hadn't even changed colour. I got him going forwards again but when we got to the same spot he just froze and refused to move then he shot sideways and backwards across the road. There were cars coming so I got off and walked him up the road. After about 50 yards I got back on and carried on riding asif nothing had happened. I had to get off him twice more as he tried to reverse into a ditch again for no apparent reason.
I arrived at the venue and told my OH if Herbs didn't behave I was leaving him there ;) We were later than I had pland to be arriving and the clear round was fill of kids jumping tiny x poles. I desided to just enter the 2ft class without doing a clear round first
Then while waiting for the class to start I rode Herbs in the warmup area. There were several other horses warming up and he was realy good and didn't try to attack any of them :D we also jumped the practice jumps which I NEVER do. I was already over the moon at this point. Riding in the warm up is a big step forwards for us and it was nice to know he would behave and not attack the other horses :)
Then it was time for our class to start. Someone had got dibbs on the first spot so I took the second spot.

Please ignore the terrable riding. I'm terrified of jumping and as soon as I enter the ring I forget how to ride :o Please just marval at my amazing pony who despite my awful riding and a small nap before the jumpoff got a double clear :D :D :D
I then watched the rest of the class. Afew ponies came in who I thought would do realy well but they had problems on the course and didn't go clear in the first phase. Then the class ended and it was time for the prize giving.

We came third :D :D :D :D I couldn't believe it. What a star pony he is. He was good while the rosettes were handed out and seemed very pleased with himself. But on the lap of houner he had his usual strop because he wanted to jump again. So I let the others pass and we ambled out the arena :p
I desided to leave it on a fantastic note and didn't bother with the clear round so I hacked him home. :D
I'm so proud of my little man. He's come such a long way. He's such a diffrent pony from the one I bought at the end of 2009. He still has his moments but they are what make him him. I just love him so much and I can't believe i'm saying this but i'm looking forward to the next jumping show in afew weeks. I hope the weather doesn't turn bad again. :D :D :D

Thankyou for reading my post and watching the videos :D xx
and thankyou to all those who have supported me from those dark early days with the horrid one. Every battle was so worth it. We knew he could be a nice pony didn't we. :D xx

Although I have read a lot about the horrid one that was the first time I've ever seen him.

I think I might be in love. It started when he set off with his wee red ears flapping and it progressed from there. he might be the cutest guy ever!

Well done both of you xx

Well done you! He looks a lovely genuine sort, not horrid at all :p

I have (erm) fond memories of hacking to a xc on my completely crazy IDxTB I had on loan when I was 15. It was a really busy road at the last bit and my poor father followed me with his hazards on while the horse spooked mentally at cows and various other things (he was fine about lorries etc to the extent he would happily spook towards one to avoid a crisp bag). Then rode round the first xc we'd done and after a few refusals he got into his stride and it was the best fun ever. :D

Thanks guys :D

JoBo those are his devil horns ;) :p :D

Emilieu He is cute isn't he, He fools many people with his cuteness just before he bites them ;) :p

FfionWinnie I was once told (during the 3hours it was taking to load Lucy to come home from a show) that all the best horses have querks ;)

CobLogic I still can't believe we came 3rd. :D

He he he, I do the same 'Good boy, GOOD BOY!' shouting when I take my horse show jumping :D

Well done :)

I do it so I carry on breathing, otherwise I forget :o It's a long time to hold your breath :p. Also he is such a good boy for putting up with my numpty riding , bless him.
