Please can someone put my mind at rest and tell me they stop growing at 4 and don't keep growing like some other breeds do?

Mine is 3.5 and appears to be a freak of nature. I've just had to swap a new rug and get him a 6'9 and the girl in the shop tried to say he'd keep
Growing til about 7 :/. Tell me it's not true
 
Hate to say it but my connie stopped growing at 8.

My half connie (other half TB x ID) is still growing at 5. Connie's are known to be late developers, sorry!
 
I also have a half connie/half ISH. He's 6 and still growing. :p

Eek - my little chap was fourteen hands before he hit a year old! String test said about 15.2...we are starting to suspect he may make more! I will need a step ladder :D
 
Sorry, breed doesn't make a difference - 'slow/fast maturing breeds' is a myth. All horse skeletons keep growing until they are 5 1/2 (even diddy ponies), but big horses will grow after that due to their size.

Thanks Faracat, I've convinced myself he's an early developer, so hopefully his bum will level out and he wont get any bigger now :/

He is already about 16'2 at the bum (too scared to measure him) but was 16'1 in the summer and has defo grown!! he was supposed to make 15'2 :/
 
yeh I've had a look right back in his history, goes really far back, all the connies were tiny! he's dad is 14'2 (although looked bigger, I wonder if they said he was 14'2 so that he wasn't "over size" his mum is 15'3 and the biggest I found in her family tree was 16'2 but lots were not listed!! his full bro is 6 and 15'3!!
 
hahah I did wonder try and blame the fast fibre last year haha!! he was on steroids for a couple of months due to a nasty kick in the leg but he was already big before that!!
