So I'm in the process of getting my first horse lorry and I'm struggling to find insurance for myself since I'm only 20. I spoke to someone from NFU today who would insure me but only 3rd party. So I was wondering what insurance companies do other young (under 25) drivers use?

Thanks and cookies for all

Hi, do you have any other insurances with NFU? As far as I am aware, the stance is if anyone in your household/ or yourself have business with NFU they can do a full quote? Not sure why they said 3rd party only? PM me if you want more details

got mine for my 3.5t transit through theinsurancefactory (basically googled 'cheap horsebox insurance' and it was one of the cheapest that came up. I pay £42 pm (around £500 for the year) fully comp. I was 24 when i started the policy.

(i didnt bother with any additionals like breakdown as my OH is a mechanic who specialises in transits so he's my breakdown cover!)

Thanks I'll give them a try.

I got mine from horse and pony insurance up in scotland, gave me a good price, I was reccommended them by some people on here :)

Try County Insurance for horsebox insurance. Their website is www.horsebox-insurance.co.uk or call them on 0800 975 6772.

I have my sister insured on my lorry and she is only 19. Will you be the only one on the policy? You may need to be one of a couple of named drivers so the premium isn't too much.
Watch out for the 'fronting' rules

The main driveron the policy must be the one who either drives it for the most time or the most miles

Google for adelaide insurance as they seem to be doing good deals for LGV drivers at the moment
