Please can I have some ideas on what I can do to help aid my young 3 year old horse over reaching. He is very short coupled and stands at 16 hands so his legs go in all directions. He is broken in.
If he's just started his ridden work, which I can only presume he has due to his age then once he stregethens up a bit and with the correct type of work, time and correct riding this will go on its own, slow the paces down a bit and do plenty of walking and lots of trasitions but don't over cook the trot work, the horse will still be growing and will be gangly, the muscles need building up slowly.
Is this happening during school work or out pottering about, if the horse being ridden out on the lanes etc, maybe he is just not phyically ready or mature enough for too ridden work yet, maybe concentrate on just a little bit of everything....lunge work, long lines and a bit of ridden work a few times a week.
