Hi my 3yr old was on loan for a couple of months and has just come back in a right mess. She was all matted with overgrown feet large hot lumps on face due to teeth eruptions, vet has put her on Danilon. Her hocks are capped prob been kicked, vet mentioned a pressure banage might tighten skin, think it was called passage-not sure.Anyone had any luck with bandaging ?

He actually was on about a certain type of bandage - Passage as in the dressage movement.Tried to google it but no luck going to phone him tomorrow he said a member of his team had tried them had they had worked.Poor horse was so bad I didn't rescue her as the very well bred Hanoverian I put to a so called friend in October.

humm i have a horse that has a capped hock the boots and bandages made it alot worse I found cold hosing and and ice gel helped loads the best thing for it though was rest and deep bed. I have never heard of those bandages. TBH my mare has been on light duties for a year (not due to a capped hock) but it has gone completly!!

Honesty seen people try all sorts of things and nothing makes a blind bit of difference other than stopping what caused it in first place - capped hocks are usually down to repeat trauma - too little bedding or too small stable etc etc

Now she's home she's away from the cause so if it can settle down it will.

Pressage bandages Ok but won't make any difference to a bursa under the skin and can rub quite badly - if you use them tight enough to put pressure on they're a right bu**er to get on - you need 2 people - 1 to pull boot together and 1 to do up zip.

Time is the greatest healer.

thanks for all your replies.I bought her to bring on and event but , worried if I end up selling her it will be a huge turn off,as she is very well bred, but, unfortunately now blemished.I'm just gutted as she is a lovely sweet mare who was super easy to back and then turned away to grow and mature and is now spoiled, but fingers xd training goes well and she stays with me then it will be ok

If she is otherwise 100%, capped hocks wouldn't be an issue. They are mostly cosmetic, and would not cause a horse to fail a vetting. I an event horse, I really don't see the problem.
