Hi all - after some advice. Have found myself with the world’s most lovely youngster (4). He’s a rescue pony and is the quietest little thing but is struggling with accepting the bit. He’s so good in all ways and the rescue charity did loads with him including backing etc but whenever we add a bit in he is yawning and constant chewing/head shaking. Is this normal? Had horses 30 years but this is my first baby so it’s all a bit alien!

He may be cutting teeth most do at 4 might be worth getting a vet or dentist to have a look just incase anyway.

One of my Arab's was uncomfortable for a while in a bit when he was 4 so I just didn't use one for a while, once his teeth had settled down he was fine in his bit again.
