And its not mine !

Person whom owns it cannot get anywhere near... me - its sees me and runs straight over to the fence - and i dont even need a horse with me. He stands there all google eyed and snuggles into my rather smelly jacket and lets me fuss him for ages. I walk away he follows, this happens morning and night. Tonight his owner saw this and she got really upset and angry and shouted I could have IT - oh dear - its not my fault he likes me and i dont even give him a treat.

What would you do?

Revel in the equine loving.

For some reason, although pink is obsessed with me and follows me everywhere i go, fat pony seems to have taken a shine to OH, who has been coming down with me lately.

I'm a little bit jealous, because the sod can be just a little gob****** with me sometimes, but its kind of sweet.

The owner needs to watch you and see what she can do to make her youngster love her again.

My youngsters like that, he'll come galloping over when he sees me..makes me feel quite smug to be honest :D But perhaps try talking to the owner and encourage her to see the horse while you are there, do this regularly then it may learn to associate her with you, thus viewing her in the star speckled glasses it apparently sees you through :D Patience is the key with the young ones though.. if you try and force them or rush them you will get no where...speaking from experience :o Wouldn't change him for the world though

Its so weired - I have not even tried to make "friends" maybe it is just so used to my routine - I am a very sad thing when it comes to cathching mine in on a morn - I have to be due to work and then I feel guily on a weekend as if i am more than half an hour later mine let me know they are not amused... anyways - the little lad started to follow me last week - up and down the fence line - and I made the mistake of giving him a love last sat when he looked really fed up and worried - and thats been it ever since ! i actually think its my smelly horse coat :)

My youngster does the full Black Beauty thing - gallops down the field, whinnying when I call her.
Can't get rid when I pooh pick, she even follows the mower when topping. :(

lol, pink does that when she hears the car pull up.

And it does get annoying when im trying to fill her water up. OH was helping last night and she stood as close as she could to him with her head rested on his shoulder so she could still see me. :D

Mine come to anyone! :( But at least I don't have to trek across the paddock. Baby (3yrs & 17hh) comes to the gate for cuddles and scritches. She is a real cuddly horse and picks up my hair with her lips while being cuddled.

I wonder how the owner feels about the youngster, if she subconsciously feels he doesn't like her she may unconsciously be projecting something to him that he's picking up on, whereas you are totally relaxed because you couldn't give a stuff if he likes you or not?

Could you go over to make a fuss of him with her a few times?

Just a thought

My 3yo does the shadow thing too, its lovely but can be a real pain in the a$$ when trying to get things done, and you have to keep an eye on hair bobbles as she has a bit of a thing for them and doesn't always remove them gently. :-/

On the other hand when I first got my gelding (as a 6yo) we didn't gel at all, he didn't want a fuss and I didn't want to fuss him, it was really difficult but 5 years on we have an amazing bond, patience and consistency usually wins out.
A bit unfair to shout at you but I imagine it hurts to see your horse attach itself to someone else when you're the one who trudges round doing he jobs and handing over the cash - as suggested above maybe you could fuss it together, she could well have anxieties that its picking up on.

I knew a pony foal who used to neigh and run over to get scritches whenever I visited and whistled in a high-pitched, wavery foal-neighing way.
