youngster lame on both front legs not abcess according to vet

basicly my 8 month old foal was out in the field (it was soft ground but muddy) with his friend. he came in hardly weight bearing with difficulty standing on both front feet. no heat in his legs, no signs of abcesses in his hoves. i have had the vet out who checked for abcesses in his hoves. vet could'nt find any thing wrong with him. he has been on bute followed by no bute and is still lame 3 weeks later. Any suggestions greatly recieved

Has the farrier had a look?

No idea sorry but after 3 weeks i'd be looking at a referral if the vet can't pinpoint the problem. btw what type/breed, I don't know much about it, but is OCD/DOD a possibility, not sure if it can occur that young, but know of a big, tall yearling that had it............

I would get farrier out, we always call farrier out if horse goes lame most of time its to do with feet and tbh my farrier is much better than a vet at picking things up about that as they have much more knowledge of feet than a vet who has a broad overall knowledge in less depth. Also i agree with getting him a refferral to a specialist horspital but then that depends on your funds, at the equine horspital they will have remedial farrier to look at feet also.

he is a warmblood X danish sports pony about 14hh.

My vets are equine specialists and my farrier won't answer his phone. I think i will take him in for xrays and blocking.
