My newly turned 4yo is having his satchel packed tonight as is off to boarding school tomorrow to commence his job in life. Gym pumps and pencil case will be packed!

Rather tugging at the heart strings at the moment as has been at home since he was 9 months old. And has been a rough old ride after damaging tendon last year partying in the paddock and then 6 weeks ago being struck down with a nasty bout of peritonitis.

So I know I am being stupid and cannot wait for him to show us what he is made of, but I will miss him being on the yard.

My youngster went to his new yard to be backed the beginning of the week. I'm quite lucky cos its just 1 min down the road from my house but i still fill sad not doing anything (he's on full livery) i feel like i'm mean not being there for him. I was watching the lady lunge him the other day and he kept looking at me everytime he went by as if to say "why aren;t you doing this"
I just can't wait till he can come back home :D
It'll go really quick though i should think!

Thanks guys, silly really and I know he will be looked after, just hard it won't be me looking after him.

Do you think I am right to not visit him for a couple of weeks so he settles in without having mum around??

Tough one to answer... Little Lad is away at the moment (on grass livery with a friend), and I keep wanting to go and see him, but knowing that I'll have to walk away and leave him there again... Haven't managed to do it yet. I know he's happy and safe and okay.

On the other hand, your situation is different. LL is just 'there', eating lol. I think that I would want to see how he is progressing and keep that bond going :

I have visited my youngster every day since he has been moved, i didn;t want him to think i just abandoned him lol not that he probably cares :/
I think its fine to visit him before that unless you want them to get on with it for a bit, depends how far away it is and how convinient it is for you.
