Youngster won’t go forward

I have a very sweet 3YO Irish Draught who I cannot get to move forward and away from me. She simply stops and turns into me and she is very adept at getting me in front of her. Even my instructor who has a world of experience is not able to get her away...
Any ideas?

Try a different instructor, one with plenty of youngster experience.
I am not trying to be rude but no-one can advise you on here as they cannot see what you or the horse are doing, you may be blocking the horses movement without knowing etc amd the horse may be giving signals that things will escalate and advice here may put you at risk.

Heh? Don't let her is the simple answer but you don't give enough details to help! I presume you are lunging? What equipment do you have, are you in an arena or where? Are you used to lunging?

Get someone in with decent groundwork skills and watch a load of You tube. Warwick Schiller is a good starting point. Everytime the horse has a head collar on there should be some sense of awareness about you and what you want. Frankly if this is happening the horse doesn't understand. If they are really bad on groundwork and not getting it I tend to use a plastic bag at the end of a schooling whip. It gets the desired response. The 3yo I am breaking at the moment was cluless so had 2 days with a plastic bag and now understands what is required.

Get an instructor who is experienced with youngsters. And watch and watch what they do. I had this with our gelding, but I know what I'm doing and could gently help him until he understood and felt confident (he's a horse of little brain!).
