Youngsters being naughty?

I have a just turned 5 year old who I have owned for 2 months now. 3 weeks of which he has been injured and the rest of the time, apart from a couple of things, he pretty much hasn't put a foot wrong... until last week and he's started being a monkey!! He normally hacks alone no problem, but he decided to spin round and leap in the air when I asked him to leave the yard, then in my lesson he wouldn't bend round a 20m circle and each time I asked him (always on the corner the circle meets the school wall) he point blank refused and we ended up spending the entire lesson with him having tantrums leaping round the school, and us having lots of arguments until he finally gave in!! He didn't do it on every circle we did. I am presuming he is now feeling comfortable with me and is deciding now is a good time to give me the run around and test me out?! What does everyone think? Any cheeky youngster stories you would like to share would be appreciated! :)
 
He's had his teeth done, saddle checked, and have physio coming out on Saturday to give him the once over! His saddle is actually getting re-checked on the 29th of this month in case he has changed shape again!
 
I was expecting it before 2 months in all honesty, I'm fully prepared for naughtiness and cheek! Was interested to hear other peoples stories on their naughty testing youngsters!
 
When I first started riding my boy he decided to play 'mummy I'm dying' and would plant all 4 feet and start groaning- carrying a short whip soon sorted that out! he also likes to pretend he can't do anything smaller than a 20m circle (when on the lunge he can spin on the spot), being scared of grass is his fave thing, because normally I will let him investigate anything he finds scary! Once out hacking a deer sprang across in front of us, he didn't bat an eyelid at it, but when we passed the place it had appeared he almost had a heart attack! and the first time I took him to another arena he trotted off as soon as I was in the saddle, and couldn't walk for 15 minutes- he was tired that night!
I would guess it is just a baby thing, testing his limits, as long as other causes have been checked I wouldn't worry about it, and certainly don't give in! You've gotta love them and their quirky personalities!
 
great in that case hes at it!! mine went frombolting at everything to planting himself and through a stage of cow kicks! youll get there :-)
