What did you use to start your youngster on their first bit?

My girl has had a rubber bit for inhand and I always assumed a snaffle or french link to start but I've been told the neue schuele bits are very good and notice they have a starter bit specifically for youngsters which is a bit more expensive.

I thought I'd ask you lovely people first and see if any of you think it's worth paying more or if I'm best sticking with a basic snaffle or french link?

I start mine in a loose ring Nathe straight bar, usually with bit guards. If I need to move on from that I would first try an eggbutt with a lozenge - I use Hilary Vernon bits because they are not too thick and are curved - then maybe a hanging cheek with the same mouthpiece if I need a bit more steering :)

I started this year with a full check so that we had addition turning support :)

However now have a curved lozenge mouth piece with egbutt rings- same principle as the neue schule team up but much more pocket friendly!
